Advanced Practitioners Focus on Rapid Advances in Precision Medicine and Changes in the Landscape of Cancer Treatment at JADPRO Live 2017

Published by Conor Lynch 5 years ago

Lawrenceville, NJ (PRWEB) September 28, 2017--Nearly 1,300 attendees will convene in Houston for the fifth annual JADPRO Live at APSHO, the largest medical conference targeted to the unique needs of oncology advanced practitioners (APs): nurse practitioners, PAs, clinical nurse specialists, pharmacists, and other health-care professionals.

From November 2 through 5, 2017, APs will have the chance to engage in 4 days of high-level education, professional development activities, and networking events at the Marriott Marquis in Houston.

The conference is a live meeting based on the first journal written by and for oncology and hematology advanced practitioners, the Journal of the Advanced Practitioner in Oncology (JADPRO). Organizers schedule the conference each year in conjunction with the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO) annual meeting.

The need for a conference like JADPRO Live at APSHO grows with every year. “As clinicians, we are experiencing rapid-fire changes in oncology therapy,” said Constance Visovsky, PhD, RN, ACNP-BC, Chair of JADPRO Live at APSHO. “And we know that improving care starts with an understanding of the science, the biology, and the nuance of choosing the best treatment for each patient.”

Advanced practitioners will have the opportunity to:

-Earn up to 21 CE/CME credits
-Hear 55 world-class speakers address practice-changing updates in cancer care and the nuances of choosing treatments for each patient
-Attend a keynote presentation by Dr. Richard Pazdur, director of the FDA’s Oncology Center of Excellence, on the
changing landscape of oncology drug development and how it will affect advanced practice
-Interact with over 59 exhibitors on the latest therapeutic options available to patients with cancer.

The conference venue was fortunate to avoid the damage and flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. “In addition to being a wonderfully vibrant and diverse city, Houston is home to some of the most important cancer research and treatment centers in the world,” said Ms. Viale. “We are looking forward to our time in Houston and hope that our meeting can make a small contribution to the city’s recovery.”
