Editor-in-Chief

James O. Armitage, MD


The founding Editor-in-Chief of The ASCO Post, Dr. Armitage is The Joe Shapiro Professor of Medicine in the Division of Oncology & Hematology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He is a former Dean of the College of Medicine and a past President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Dr. Armitage graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1973 and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine there in 1975. In 1977, he completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Dr. Armitage is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians, and ASCO. He has authored or co-authored over 500 articles, over 100 book chapters, and is the editor/co-editor of 27 books.
